Q Force is calling to action its sizable roll of LGBTQ grassroots volunteers from Chicagoland to stage a four day presence getting out the vote in SW Michigan and SE Wisconsin while overnighting in Saugatuck, Michigan, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker expressed his support of Q Force’s efforts by saying “You’re making a difference in getting out the vote in Michigan and Wisconsin. I am a member of Q Force too and can’t wait to celebrate with you on November 5th!”

After spending the past six months making day trips on weekends from Chicago to canvass in Michigan and Wisconsin, Q Force is responding to the needs of the Michigan and Wisconsin Democratic parties and will be sending volunteers to canvass and GOTV for multiple days in those states. Q Force will cover the cost of hotels for those who spend at least 4 hours canvassing with Q Force in Michigan or Wisconsin between Nov. 2-5.

The goal of the overnight trips is to be as effective as possible in the last days of the election and to help be able to reach as many voters as possible before the election. The possibility of having a high impact from staying overnight was emphasized to leadership after Q Force volunteers knocked on over 1200 doors during one canvassing shift in Michigan on Oct. 19.

“We have been amazed at the demand and hunger of so many LGBT Chicagoans to do something to help make Kamala Harris president and to save this country from the wreckage of another Trump term in the White House,” said Coco Soodek, Q Force Michigan co-lead. “We are responding to this demand by making sure that volunteers can focus on getting out the vote instead of driving back and forth to Chicago.”

“The LGBT community knows how to work hard and win,” said Mary Morten, Co-Chair of Q Force. “We went from zero rights to full marriage equality in two generations. Now, we are fighting to save the republic from a storm of chaos and division and destruction.”

Greg O’Neill, Co-Chair of Q Force adds, “There’s nothing LGBT people like more than a good party to cap off a day of hard work. So, we’re basing our night time operations in gay-owned hotels in both Michigan and Wisconsin. That way, after we’re done door knocking and driving folks to the polls, we can have some fun and build community.”

Q Force (AKA Q FORCE Midwest Action Group) is open to all members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community. Its core leadership team is comprised of a multi-racial, cross generational group of Chicago’s LGBTQ+ community with membership ranging from college students to retired judges and elected officials, to non-profit leaders, activists, and businesspeople. They seek to impact the election and help elect Democrats up and down the ballot in Michigan and Wisconsin by recruiting and activating volunteers for a combination of canvassing, phone and text banking, and sending postcards. In 2020, they successfully did this in Michigan, increasing turnout in target areas by 5%. For the 2024 campaign cycle, they recruited 1200+ volunteers from Chicagoland and beyond in an effort to make a bigger impact. They are on Facebook (Q FORCE Midwest Action Group), Instagram (@qforcemidwest) and you can visit their website qforce.org.
